If you have a deep compassion and love for children it will probably be hard. It was a bit depressing, but It was still amazing. He remembers each abuse in vivid detail, clarity and full color descriptions. He is young, naïve, and impressionable. Now I find that I'm always in trouble and I don't know why. His mother, one day, suddenly changed into a completely different person: from a kind and lovely mother, she transformed into one who starved and tortured Dave. The bluejays scolded the other birds, and a warm breeze blew through my hair.
He has two brothers in the beginning and three in the end. I wanted to know why his mother did this. I know it's the first part in a trilogy, but I doubt I'm going to read the other two books. No, that's not true - he stood by and did nothing. این داستان من و تنها مال من است. The nurse examined all his scars and bruises and other injuries. He writes about the simple pleasures of exploring his neighborhood, while trying to forget the hell waiting for him at home.
I would recommend this book to everyone. While reading this book, I could not believe that a child could go through all that he did , while children in New York are pampered and treated with respect. He was forced to sleep in the basement. And how he himself squeezed the pus out of it to rid of the infection that had set in. This is torture and inhuman that his mom is allowing this. Starvation is number one at the forefront of the horror show this book is.
Actually, the person I got most angry with was the father. He sleeps on a cot without pillows and blankets. They had a lot of will power to be able to continue living like that. But for a child it's horrific. Hours later I bent over in extreme pain.
It was depressing as hell and it was poorly written. The only problem is I can't believe a book so poorly edited became a New York Times Bestseller. Especially because by the end the reader has become so invested in Dave and feels like they're such a part of his life, they want to go with him as he continues on to the next, hopefully happier chapter in his life. If you're a mother it will probably be especially hard. When I first picked up this book, I never know that reading it would be this traumatic. He speaks of his childhood abuses too flippantly, and seems more obsessed about book and ticket sales than he does about getting his story out.
I read the first last night, and the second today in less than 2 hours. The outside world knew nothing of his living nightmare. What kind of mother would want to hurt their own little child? Child abuse has had a extensive history. How can you sit around watching a sick person torture your son and not do anything? Again, I can concede that he was only helping his writing along by wanting his book to be seen by a greater audience. Why was he the one who was treated so horribly? The movie is in pre-production, with production set to begin in Spring 2018.
For more of my reviews check out my website,. It is even more sad because it is real. This kind of terrible abuse is just atrocious to think of. She treated him not like her son, but like nobody with no feelings or emotions. Now, before anyone wants to crucify me, look at the facts: His family members were interviewed and stated that this was pure fantasy. Here, for the first time, Richard Pelzer tells the courageous and moving story of his abusive childhood.
Sitting here writing this makes me want to cry again. I deal with enough abuse issues at school and I didn't want to bring it home to my leisure time. I can concede that the family members may have lied. I only read the second book in order to see how this 'damaged' kid makes it in the real world. She expected David to comply to very in humaine things. Soemtimes I think I'm living in hell and i don't learn This book was a very interesting and good book. As time passes, David's punishments became more cruel and dangerous.
